ADMISSION
Points for consideration before admission
Right from the initial stage of its functioning, this college has a dream to reach its highest level. The role of higher education institutions in the overall development and character building often turns to dismay when faced with the working of the system. With regard to the functioning of law colleges, the general belief in the community is that attendance is not at all necessary. We have often made attempts to remove this misbelief by having a dialogue at a common meeting with our students on the very first day of the starting of teaching work every term. We have found a slight change in the attitude of our students, but not a major success.

We hereby, therefore, expose our Rules before the admission seekers and expect them to follow these rules strictly and without exception. We expect their co-operation and the purpose of this publication is to make them aware, so no scope of complain and redressal of it may be left.
Rules
  1. It is compulsory to attend the classes as per the time table right from the very 1st day of starting the teaching work. Every student may obtain admission, keeping this fact well in mind. No demand or excuse to remain absent will be entertained subsequently.

  2. Every student to take his/her seat in the class room before the respective classes start. At the most, a student may be admitted in the class room, five minutes late, after the classes have started operating. Other students coming later then 5 minutes, may sit in the library and keep them engaged in reading peacefully.

  3. No concession will be granted on the excuses like job hours, household work, difficulty faced in transportation. All the periods have to be attended. No student will be allowed to leave the class-room while teaching is in progress. In case of sickness or some emergency, permission of any member of the Disciplinary committee (Prof. A.B.Pandya or Prof.Ms M.H.Upadhyay) may be obtained to leave the college.

  4. Common experience with respect to students attendance is that majority of the students stop coming to the college, after the examination forms are submitted. This will not be permitted. Attendance is compulsory right from the day 1, till the last day upto which the teaching continues.

  5. Students are instructed to observe the timings with regards to periods, library and other activities. No transaction will be carried out after the time limit is over, which may please note.

  6. Library session is a routine activity being carried out in the next month of the beginning of the 1st term, in which attendance will be compulsory.

  7. This college puts emphasis on education, reading and study. No suggestion or guide book is permitted to bring.

  8. Every student shall keep his/her identity card with him/her and produce it for inspection, whenever required by any member of the staff of the college.

  9. There is a ban to bring mobile phone in the college campus.

  10. Those coming on a scooter must wear helmet and to park their vehicles at a proper place.

  11. A student, violating any of the rules, will be subjected to a penalty of Rs. 50-00. Disciplinary action may be proposed against such a student, which may include in appropriate cases, dismissal from the college and/or cancellation of the term.
Admission Criteria:
Any one, seeking admission to the 1st LL.B. class, must have passed his/her graduation with minimum 45% of marks. This criteria is relaxable in the case of SC/ST students. In other words, SC/ST students are eligible for admission with minimum 40% of marks.
Standard of Passing:
Minimum standard of passing in 1st LL.B. 2nd LL.B. and 3rd LL.B. is 50%. But in each paper, there should not be less then 33 marks.
Semester System:
The Bar Council of India has laid down a policy that there should be semester system in the Faculty of Law, throughout the country. In other words, each year of LL.B. degree (whether general or special) is divided in monsoon semester (1st term) and winter semester (2nd term). Monsoon semester begins on 15th of June every year and the winter semester starts after the end of Diwali vacation.

Distinguishing feature of semester system is that an examination will be held at the conclusion of every semester. In 1st LL.B. Monsoon semester, there are 4 subjects to be learnt. In 2nd LL.B. Monsoon semester, there are 5 subjects and in 3rd LL.B. Monsoon semester, there are 5 subjects to be learnt. Students will appear at their respective examinations after the conclusion of Monsoon semester. It will be followed by a Diwali vacation. Just after the conclusion of Divali vacation, there starts winter semester. Those who may have appeared at Monsoon semester examination are advised to seek admission in the winter semester of the same year / class without waiting for the outcome of their result. There is no bar or restriction upon seeking admission to the winter semester, unless it is a question of a change of a year. Those who may have appeared at the Monsoon semester and unless they are to be upgraded to their upper class, they are eligible for admission to the winter semester of their respective year/class. Even in a case, where there is no appearance or there is failure at the monsoon semester examination, there is no bar in pursuing the study of the winter semester, of the same year/class.

Another advantage of this semester system is that any one is admissible at Monsoon semester as well as at winter semester. The only condition that while seeking admission to upper class, the lower examination must have been cleared.
Procedure for students coming from other Universities:
Those who seek admission to this college, and hail from any other university, other then the Hem. North Gujarat University, to which this college is affiliated, will be required to produce Provisional Eligibility Certificate, obtainable from Hem. North Gujarat University, Patan.
